EPISODIO 54
“AVAILABLE NEXT TUESDAY, JANUARY 7”
Before we begin, a small warning: this is the first episode of The Adela Pereira Podcast recorded in English. And honestly, I couldn’t think of a better conversation to take that step.
In this new episode, we speak with Gergely Szolnoki, Professor at Geisenheim University, about one of the most ambitious international studies on wine tourism conducted to date: the Global Wine Tourism Report, developed in collaboration with UN Tourism, the OIV, Great Wine Capitals, and WineTourism.com, based on data from more than 1,300 wineries across 47 countries.
This is a particularly interesting conversation because the report is not only about tourism. It explores how wineries are changing, direct-to-consumer relationships, customer loyalty, sustainability, digitalization, and how many wineries are using wine tourism to build stronger and more resilient businesses.
We discuss something that still happens across much of the wine industry: making decisions based more on intuition than on data. And that is precisely why this report is so revealing.
We talk about:
➔ Why small wineries are becoming increasingly dependent on direct sales and long-term relationships with their visitors.
➔ What the most successful wineries in wine tourism actually do well beyond simply attracting visitors.
➔ How the expectations of younger generations around wine and winery experiences are evolving.
A highly valuable conversation for understanding where global wine tourism is heading and what wineries can learn from the real behavior of their visitors.
